Yes, I Have Asthma

As I get older, it is getting harder to control, even with all of the medications I'm on.

I am a respiratory therapist who has treated people with various lung diseases for over 22 years.  I was diagnosed with asthma over 10 years ago.  I had a bad pneumonia in early December which required a hospital stay.  Since my pneumonia is resolved, my asthma has been worse and even with all of the medications I'm on, the wheezing and coughing persist.  I am depressed with the fact that I can't hardly cook dinner or go grocery shopping without being short of breath and wheezing. My symptoms worsen at night. I have been out of work for nearly two months. I just thought I'd write this to help me with me depression on the matter.

Thanks for listening.

Thank you for our advise. We have taken steps to live pretty much dust mite free, and even went through the expense to case our bed, pillows and all. We have a hepa system on our HVAC and have been tested for mold spores. Environmentally, I don't know what more we can do. We have air cleaners and change our HVAC filters every 3 weeks. Thanks again for your input.

its not easy dealing with asthma but more and more new treatments are being offered regarding this illness. My son has asthma and has done since he had an allergic reaction to the triple jab when he was a baby. I have tried all sorts to no avail. But i do find that keeping a dustmite free house...alleviates alot of his symptoms there is special sprays that you can get from your pharmacist for this. Also checking for dyes in foods cut them out. Get rid of feather pillows or feather duvets they make the symptoms worse and appear to aggravate the condition. If the wind aggravates you which it did my son go out with a scarf wrapped round your mouth...its ok in the cold weather!. My son could have an asthma attack due to the wind!. There are certain things which cant be avoided each christmas i would be worried sick as the excitement was also a trigger for him. If you live in a damp property try to keep the damp spores down to a minimum by washing down walls with a bleach and washing up liquid solution, damp aggravates the condition also. I have heard that asthma can now be alleviated completely by stem cell treatment!...but this is new and i think this would not apply but its worth checking that out for yourself. Try not to let it get you down as stress also can trigger it!.
