Single All My Life...

I'm 53 and have NEVER had a romantic relationship. I think some of it may be due to my kind of high standards (no heavy drinkers, no drug abusers, no smokers, no Jabba the Hutt types, comparitively intelligent), but most may be due to the fact that as a white American male I do not make enough to support 2 people comfortably.

All of the couples that I know are both working for a combined support of the two of them. In the current economy, I can barely support myself, let alone someone else.

I am also 53 and was married for 14 years. I'd be interested in another LTR with the right person. I don't like the thought of growing old and being alone.

I can relate to what you are saying.

I'm also in my 50s and have never been in a committed relationship. Honestly I've had a lot of casual sex, but other than providing some temporary relief, it hasn't given me any long term satisfaction.

I've learned to get on with my life as a single person. I'm not sure I even want to be in a relationship at this point.

Personality issue perhaps? "Jabba the Hutt types"-- nice.
