My Illness And New Life.

Things changed for me a while before Christmas 2012. I contracted a nasty rare illness that was caused by a Parasite that I acquired from an unknown source. This had catastrophic affects on my health and home life as well as causing me to take a great deal of time off work. When something affects you so much and takes away a quarter of your year you make a lot of choices when you finally come out of that dark tunnel.

I am a shadow of the man I was before my illness and am only now getting back my life. I am a different person than the one I was before and now realize that I can not be the one and only person to hold everything together. Life will go on without me. So I have been learning to adapt and allow people to do things for me instead of being the person who does everything for everyone.

My Partner has been amazing and has supported me and our extended family throughout my experience. He has become a better person as have I and we now have a stronger bond than ever before. In the past, life was just a fast flowing river of love lust and good times. Now we have taken stock and sobered up and realized how precious life is.

Our household increased from two to four last year and it was with that increase that our lives should have changed but didn't, Now though following my Illness and the shock of it all our priorities have changed and both me and my Partner have grown up. I feel like a grown up for the first time in my life.
