Five Weeks On the Road

I've never lived in any other country but Canada.   Fortunately though, I have had the opportunity to visit several other countries.  My travels have made me appreciate the beauty and standard of living we enjoy here in  Canada, but have also made me yearn for more travel.

I first visited Europe in 1982 with my parents and siblings.  We did a whirlwind 10 day bus tour of England, France, Switzerland and Italy.  Afterwards we spent some time in Italy visiting family.

In 2005, my husband and I were able to take our family to Europe for five weeks.   We travelled by planes, trains, boats and automobiles; stayed in bed and breakfasts, tiny hotels, quaint apartments and ancestral homes.  We visited London; toured Italy and spent our last few days in Paris.  There were moments of frustration with eachother.  Five weeks is a lot of togetherness.  Despite that, that trip was one we talked about every day for at least a year and a half.

This summer my daughter's soccer team will be playing in an international youth soccer tournament in Sweden called the Gothia Cup.  Before the tournament begins, we'll be visiting Liverpool where the girls will train with Everton, then we're all off to Sweden with the team.  Afterwards, the four of us hope to visit Barcelona.  I hope this trip will be as memorable because it will quite likely be our last family holiday before my eldest daughter goes away to school.

Thanks UC I certainly will. Maybe I'll even have a few good pictures to post when I get back.
