I'm Blind to Myself

I never knew that there was a word for what I see, I never knew that what I see when I look in the mirror, isnt truly what I look like.  I think, most people who suffer with this are extremely thin and see themselves as very large, but I have met people for whom this goes in reverse.  They are very large, but see themselves as thin, but there are people who see issues or problems where there are none, but I think everyone goes through that at some point in life.

Im not sure where I belong.  Ive lost a very large amount of weight, but I cannot see it.   I understand that my body is different because my clothes don't fit, and because of people's surprised reactions to me if they havent seen me in a while, but when I look in the mirror, I still see the same person I was 10 years ago.

It was shocking when I was made to put a picture of me 10 years ago beside a picture of what I look like now.  It's as if I cant stop looking at it, it's amzing to me.

It's difficult not being able to see yourself.  Im not sure what steps to take to begin seeing me as I am.

Talk to a counselor. They are trained to deal with this disorder and it is a disorder. It has helped people I know and I am now hoping it will help me. The first step is to make the call and tell the counselor what you have told us.
