Anybody Out There Like Me?

As you may have guessed, I have chronic back pain, caused from flat back syndrome; which in turn, was caused by Harrington Rod instrumentation used in my spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis. I don't run across many people with this condition, and I was wondering if anyone here has it, or might know someone who does. I am about at the end of my rope with this pain and everything that goes along with it, and am looking for others who can relate, share advice, information, and tips on how to cope; and I would love to learn some exercises that might help with pain. I am curious how other people with flat back deal with it all; and not just from the pain perspective, but also how this is affecting and influencing your life. How do others view you? How do you view yourself? I'm the only person I know that has this condition, and sometimes it makes me feel like such a freak. I guess I don't want to feel so alone. So, anyway, I'd really appreciate any info/advice anyone out here might have...

i think i have that harrington rod at my back. how did you know that you have flat back syndrome? were you okay after the operation then later on realized that something's wrong? or was there something wrong right after the operation? sorry for questioning a lot. i am worried, curious, and alarmed when i read your comment on my post about my scoliosis surgery, and this story about your chronic back pain. now, i know i really do have to exercise. thanks for the warning. it really motivates me to take extra care. hope you get well soon.
