My Son

My son was born with congenitally corrected transposition of the great vessels. He was diagnosed before he was born due to a heart condition found in my older son. I was lucky enough to get the time to get use to the idea of having a child with this condition.  Don't get me wrong, it was the hardest news I had to deal with. My son has had problems with this condition since he as 2 mths old, that when he caught the RSV virus. It almost killed him. Once he started to get better, I was told he might not make it to age 2 I am proud to say he is now 11 years old and looks like he can play professional football. We have to deal with the irregular heart rhythems and the yearly tests but I rather deal with them then the loss of my son.

This is almost the same story as with my son who is now 11 also. They found out he had TGA before he was born but he has not had any other problems so far. They just put him on a small amount of blood pressure medicine, but said it was just preventative and that his blood pressure was good so far. This has really stressed me out because I had just convinced myself he would never be on meds, but I guess the doctor knows best.
