Is It Really Crohn's?

I was diagnosed with Crohns when I was 12. I had two small bowel resections and a eventually a partial colostomy (irreversible). The only thing that actually helped me was Remicaid IV. I am not even sure they do that anymore, but I have had no symptoms of Crohns since then, more than 10 years ago. I was always told that Crohns is not just a bowel thing: it can cause problems anywhere in your digestive system. It is also an autoimmune disorder, so it can cause all sorts of problems. HOWEVER, I have found that because of this, dr.s tended to blame the Crohns rather than looking for other underlying problems. I once had a liver abscess, which nearly killed me because for several months, the doctors blamed the high fevers and the pain on the Crohns without looking further. Dr.s have also missed Lyme Disease (3 years for a diagnosis) and gallbladder disease (who even knows how long before I was diagnosed) because they attributed all my symptoms to Crohns. Even when endoscopies and surgeries have shown NO Crohns. The only way I ever got attention for these problems was to PUSH and get new doctors when someone wasn't listening. Doctors do not alays know better. If your body is not responding, ask for new meds. If nothing is working for the Crohns, maybe it isn't just Crohns. You know what quality of life is, so keep pushing until you get it.

Thank you so much for your response. Even just knowing you are listening helps. They started with my gallbladder & took it out first. So know that isn't it. But you are so right. Because they say I have crohn's they don't seem to take me seriously cauese I swear the pain I am experiencing is the same pain I started complaining about when they diagnosed me and it just seems way to high. Like my ribs are bruised all the time. Thanks for your story! I wish you luck. I will keep pushing, and I am not afraid of the diagnosis as long as they can either fix it or figure out what it is. Bless you for your time and making me feel better today. Someone is listening to me....

Could be your gallbladder causing the upper pain. Definitely not the Crohn's causing that pain. Hmmmm... gall bladder emptying study is what I had to have done to show my gall bladder problem...I also have Crohn's. Mention that to your doctor!
