I credit my recovery to God, my mother, and my daughter Cynthia. I was able to use my 30 years of experience in engineering and biochemistry to beat my (Type 2) diabetes and help other diabetics as a volunteer of a diabetic support group for the American Diabetes Association.
With support and encouragement from several churches, my mother, and my daughter, I wrote the (now acclaimed) book, Death to Diabetes. The book explains my near-death diabetes experience, the 4 insulin shots a day, the root causes of diabetes, and how to beat the disease -- based on my 6-stage model, the 5 "super" foods, the 7 wellness factors, and research from more than 200 clinical studies.
I am an engineering graduate of Pennsylvania State University, worked for Hughes Aircraft and Xerox Corp. for 30 years, and was a math tutor volunteer for the Rochester Urban League for more than 11 years.

So, why do so many people struggle with diabetes? Because they lack the knowledge to really understand the disease well enough to control and reverse the disease. As a result, I am conducting diabetes workshops and seminars to try to increase the awareness and knowledge about this disease, which is at epidemic levels in our country.
Bottom-line: You can defeat this disease (as others* have), but only if you really want to and you have the proper knowledge.

Posted Oct 31st, 2008 at 7:17AM And I get mad when my blood levels go up to 160! Information is the biggest problem with diabetes. There's so much bullshit out there including my original doctor who sent me home with a chart and told me to figure it out for myself. For me, it took an endocrineologist to get my medications in order. I'm now losing weight and my blood levels are going down.
Posted Oct 31st, 2008 at 9:10AM Great! My endocrinologist helped me also, but he didn't tell me about the hidden dangers of long term use of metformin (Glucophage), insulin, and the other diabetic drugs. And, if you add in one of the statin drugs such as Lipitor or Zocor, the long term effects are even worse. Also, these drugs do not address what's actually causing your diabetes. As a result, the diabetes continues to spread causing damage to more cells. As a result, the drugs lose their effectiveness, and eventually, your doctor will have to increase your drug dosage or add a new drug -- which will lead to complications with your kidneys, liver, and other organs. This is hard to believe because you feel fine and do not feel any effects of the drugs. But, over time, this will change. Also, your doctor may not have told you that although the diabetic drugs control your blood sugar, the drugs do not stop the progress of the diabetes and its complications, including blindness, amputation, kidney failure, heart attack and stroke. Take care ...
Posted Nov 8th, 2008 at 9:15AM Wow, Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that diabetes can cause heart attacks and strokes. That is good to kow. i am on Lantus and Novolog Insulin. I take four shots a day,a nd test my sugars that many times too. Lately my sugars have been running between 250 and 500. The other night it was 642, and I was in the emergeny room, but they didn't do anything for me. They told me to take an extra shot, of Novolog, ad it would go down. That was at 3:00 in the a.m. at 7:00 when I checked my blood sugar, it was 538. Still to high. How do I get my sugars to go down at night. They always seem to go up at night, and I don't understand it. My A1C test showed the number was at an 8.2 and they want it between 6 and 7. How do I get it down. What am I doing wrong. Thanks.
Posted Nov 8th, 2008 at 2:26PM What you're doing wrong: is that you're relying on the DRUGS to force your blood sugar level to go down. Eventually, you will have to take more and more insulin ... it's called the "insulin addiction trap". Read Chapters 11 and 14 to learn how to get your blood glucose to go down at night. Read Chapters 7, 11, 12 and 14 of my book (Death to Diabetes) to learn what the insulin is really doing, and learn how to safely wean off the drugs ... I used to take 4 insulin shots a day ... today, I take no insulin or any other drugs, and my aveage glucose level is 84.7 mg/dl and hemoglobin A1C is 4.6%. Remember: As long as you rely on the drugs, you will continue to require more and more drugs as time goes on ... Posted Jun 30th, 2009 at 8:46AM My son was diagnosed last year, at age 15 with type 1. he had a seizure last week, when the paramedics came he tested at 99. His primary thinks it was adrenalin kicking in. He's had every test, but we still have no answer. he stated he felt low, his body was twitching and then he awoke in the hospital. Has anyone experienced this?
