Coming Out of Denial!

I have  type 2 diabetes and I have to get my blood sugars down by May 15 or my doctor said it will be time for insulin shots.  I have to get my eating under control.  I'm starting again after two years of not taking care of myself.  It's very depressing, but I am lucky to have several friends with diabetes and they are my support system.  My husband and son, 18 are not too sympathetic because they have lived with me for the past 2 years and see how I just ignorned my diabetes.  I can't expect them to support me right now, I am very grateful for this message board.  Thanks so much for your stories, it's nice to know I am not alone with this.

I have watched my mother struggle with her diabetes for 20 years and she is now losing the battle. Please make the effort while you are still in a position to, to fight the disease with diet and exercise. The alternative is not so nice. I will hope for all the best for you and am sending you all the willpower in the world. Food is not an enemy or a comfort but just food. (a few low-carb ideas--sugar free jello with cool whip, grilled hamburger on lettuce with sugar free thousand island dressing, small handful of any kind of nut, string cheese, celery stuffed with beaumonde cheese(see recipe on my story board). Best of luck.
