Its about wishing you could feel as good sober as you do drunk or high. Saying that the alcohol or drugs are your protection from the world and yourself.

Personally, When I'm drunk, I am the person I wish I could be all the time. I am funny, outgoing, quick witted and confident. When I'm sober I am pretty much in a constant state of confusion, I dont catch on to things very quick and I shrink down in the shadows and try not to be seen. Part of this is mostly because Jesse comes out for the alcohol and he's who I wish I was. The half of me I can only feel whole with if I drink.

So like the song says..."How do I feel this good sober?"
