I Have Diverticulitis

I am trying to find groups of people to speak with about this and hopefully find a chat room. It is hard for people with our conditions because it is not easy to understand what we go through. I have a very severe case, I have had 5 surgeries and I am getting ready to go in for another in which they are going to take out my entire Large Intestine. I am very scared and I don't have anyone to talk to about this that understands what it is like to live with this condition, especially if it is severe. I was just hoping to find others out there that would be willing to speak with me and share some incite as to what they have found out. I am not even sure I am doing the correct thing here, I am just following my surgeons advice and that comes from the VA which makes it even more difficult to deal with.
Anyway it felt good to just type this out, my antibiotics are almost done so I am going to try to get some sleep.. God Bless all of you and believe you me I know it's hard, I hope that most of you do not have to go through the severity of what I am having to go through at this time.

    Hi Kelly, I have also just been informed that they are going to remove my entire large bowel and to say I am worried is such an understatement. I have been told that I have no option in the matter.Is there any body else out there that has gone through this opperation that will share just what is involved and just what after care they went through.

    Hi Kelly, I am to a newbie at this medical problem of having Diverticulitis. I was just diagnosed with this last Friday and I am nervous and scared because the hospital told me to start having a high fiber diet and to stay away from seeds, nuts, and corn and that's including popcorn that I love as a snack from time to time. I am on 2 different antibiotics, a pill for a running stool when I have episodes which are now frequent and Vicodin for abdominal pain. I am trying so hard to understand this so called disease and if I can get any insight on this it would be great. I also started my own forum with people battling Diverticulitis and your more welcome to join if you like.

    Bless your heart, I am so sorry you suffer so much. I also have it, don't understand it at all. I have to have colonoscopy every two-three months now. But my doctor has not really explained much about it to me, just showed me pictures of all those holes in my intestines.??

    I have bleed out severely for about 15 years, every time I would go to the doctor they would say hemoroids , would throw up blood also. now the surgeons say if I start bleeding again I haven't since the last colonoscopy, but to have them call him for emerergecy surgery?

    I am here if you need to talk don't have advice because don't understand it. but have a good ear for listening. good luck
