45 And Growing A Good Size Fibroid

Funny how I see it also spelled fybroid, not that it really matters.
My monthy cycle started to change a couple years ago and I had a pain like
I"ve never felt before during my cycle so I went to the doctor who sent
me for an ultra sound and internal exam. Turns out my uterus has a huge
fibroid which is almost filly the whole area inside there.
I've read online how these fibroids can grown and can make a person look
4 months pregnant.
When I had mine checked 2 years ago it was 7 inches by 6 inches in size.
Whether it has grown since then I don't know.
I've decided for the time being not to have it removed. If it causes too much pain
and starts making going to the bathroom extremely difficult for me I'll have to.
The doctor said if I can wait it out for 5 or so years my estrogen levels will start
to drop as menopause comes on and then the fibroid should shrink.
So for now as long as I can deal with the complications of it being in there I'm
not going in for surgery. If the pain gets to be too much and so on, then I'll have to go in.

omg, mine is only 2 inches and is giving me grief and i have a very high tolerance for pain. its the constant feeling of malaise that is getting to me, how did you put up with it for so long?

I have 2 fibroids the size of grapefruits. My doctor says I'm the size of a 7 month to term (9 month) pregnant women. I just want them out. I have heavy cycles and monster cramps as well as back pain. My bladder seems to be the size of a pea and I have killer anemia i just want them out.

I did have the fibroid removed. I no longer have a uterus or cervix. They had a bit of problems removing it since it sat back and against my intestines. I stayed in the hospital over night. I got up and walked around as much as I could. A lot of bruising. Below my navel and off to the sides it was black and blue. I stayed in another night because I wasn't able to empty my bladder, but then went home in the morning.
The first day home I didn't do much at all, but I was able to get up and around. It wasn't too bad...of course there are aches and some pain. No lifting for a few weeks was difficult

Hi, thank you for posting your story. I feel your pain because I am in the same situation as you. I hope you are doing well and would like to know how your situation is progressing. All the best....

Thank you :) I had mine out. I was having a lot of pain and the fibroid was sitting back against my intestines causing me problems with bowel movements.

I hate fibroid s they are such a pain in the...Uterus!!

Seriously though, I could almost ignore it if..

I didn't feel like a bowling ball was inside me making me pee, and gramp and look pregnant when I'm not..oh yeah and there is the excessive bleeding and hey why not throw me on the pill to stop the bleeding..

I really think they need to do more research on this...they want to take out your uterus first thing..and that should ONLY be a last option always.. maybe when a man has penis issues they should cut it off.....just like that?

I have an appointment with a obgyn May 10th. So I'm just waiting to get in to see her. I was told there is a population explosion right now and all the gyno's are busy.

I have a very large fibroid. It has made my uterus the size of a 4 month pregnancy. I bleed a lot and it affects my bladder. I recommend anyone with fibroids to take them seriously and keep a check on them. Don't be like me and ignore them. I knew I had this monster and ignored it for 4 years. Now I have this monster in me and its causing problems. Lets not discuss pregnancy issues, its causing me more than that. It has made me anemic and miserable.. So don't ignore. Keep track of it.

My family doctor told me not to worry about it. If it wasn't causing me heavy bleeding to wait until menopause and it would go away. I decided to see another doctor who couldn't believe how big it was and knew it had to come out. He said it would be pushing on all my organs and giving me back pain among other problems...so I'm booked in now with a obgyn.

That is me. My original gyn ignored it. He did not think it was an issue. Well, now several years later its a lot larger and like you said pushing on other organs. I have heavy bleeding and as a result I am anemic. I have bladder issues and on and on. All due to this fibroid. my new gyn is being very by the book and using caution. She is wanting to do a uterine biopsy before deciding which surgery to do. Either hysterectomy or myomectomy. I person will not do a hysterectomy without cancer being found in my uterus. So I am pushing for a myomectomy. I don't think they will find cancer or pre-cancer. All my bleeding is due to the monster fibroid in me. An MRI shows no cancer only a fibroid. Good luck with your new gyn.

I live in Ontario, Canada.
I have one very large fibroid, which is making my uterus twice it's normal size.
I'm not bleeding or lot or cramping, but it causes me daily irritation since it pushes on my bladder.
I'm not going to have any more children.
I'll wait and see how much trouble it gives me. Maybe I can get away with not having it remvoved.
The pressure it is putting on my bladder is keeping me in the bathroom a lot though.

I hope you will be able to have children :)

GO TO THE GYN DOCTOR BECAUSE THEY WOULD GIVE YOU OPTIONS. YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE SURGERY. YOU CAN LEAK THE FIBROIDS YOU KNOW. BUT FIND OUT WHAT ARE YOUR OPTIONS...GOOD LUCK

THE BEST THING TO DO IS GO TO A GYN. A GOOD GYN DOCTOR WHO HAS EXPERIENCE WITH REMOVING FIBROIDS. IF YOU LIVE IN THE BRONX U CAN GO TO BRONX LEBRANON HOSPITAL THAT WHERE I DID MINE. WITH DOCTOR HAM. HE IS A GREAT GYN DOCTOR. BUT FIND OUT FIRST HOW MANY FIBROIDS YOU HAVE, YOU MAY NOT NEED TO HAVE SURGERY IF YOUR NOT BLEEDNG ALOT OR BAD CRAMPS. IF IT IS NOT AFFECTING YOU, YOU MIGHT NOT NEED SURGERY. NOW IF U HAVE CHILDREN ALREADY. NOT TRYING TO HAVE ANYMORE CHILDREN THEN LIKE I SAID IF IT IS NOT CAUSING YOU PROBLEMS THEN U DONT NEED SURGERY. MANY WOMEN LIVE WITH FIBROIDS BECAUSE WHEN U REACH 50 IT STARTS TO SHRINK AND GO AWAY. I DID THE SURGERY BECAUSE I WAS BLEEDING ALOT, ALSO BAD CRAMPS. BUT I HAVE NO CHILDREN YET AND I WANT CHILDREN. YOU WILL BE FIND, I ALSO CRIED WHEN I FOUND OUT BUT WHEN I KNEW MORE ABOUT IT I WAS OK BECAUSE IT IS NOTHING THAT CAN KILL YOU LIKE CANCER...HOPE THIS HELP

The 2nd opinion I got from a doctor said due to it's size I would have lower back pain, heartburn, constipation and kidney pain because it is pushing on organs. It's pushing on my bladder causing a pinching feeling constantly and, of course, making the size of my bladder smaller...which is a constant problem. I can't be out long and am rushing home to use the bathroom... I have an appointment in May to see a gyno

Thats good that you will see a gyn doctor. The doctor will see how big and your options. Good luck and pray God will listen and help you because he did it for me he will do it for you....God bless
