I Have Fibromuscular Dysplasia of Arteries

26 With Fmd And A Whole Lot More!

Hi, I am 26 years old with 2 children and married.7 months ago I had a mini stroke and found out I had a left vertebral artery dissection. Shortly after that they realized I had really bad hypertension. So I went to 2 different vascular cardio specialest. I also have asthma and a heart murmor due to my mitrovalve prolapse in my heart.when I went into to second specialest I found out I had fmd fibromuscular dysplasia. And its so bad its in both my renal arteries and causes my arteries to spasm. Now for the past month on and off my left arm keeps getting heavy,cold,throbbing in pain,and numb! I get times where I am extremely weak and tired and find it hard to lift my phone. I'm surviving off of faith and faith alone! 4 different bp meds and just got off coumadin! My head hurts constantly and I get dizzy and feel light headed a lot! If anyone can relate to or help me it would sure be nice! I've got so many concerns and questions that just don't seem to be getting answered! And I'm so tired of being in and out of the hospital! The dr's their are idiots!

    I was diagnose with FMD in the carotid arterys and before I was diagnose that exactly how I felt. I think you are having TIA's, you really should see a team of doctors. The doctors said I also have it in the kidney arteries as well. I was recommended to take one full asprin a day so far it's working, I just make sure I take it with food. I pray you find a good doctor, I've been blessed and my faith keeps me from worrying about my condition. Keep us informed. God bless!

    Hi there. My partner has FMD of the carotid arteries. What part of the country are you in? It's important to get a good doctor or teams of doctors on your side. A LOT of doctors don't know much about FMD and how to treat it, but there ARE good ones out there! I suggest looking into the FMDSA (Fibromuscular Dysplasia Society of America) and MWVA (Midwest Women's Vascular Advocates). My partner and I are part of the MWVA support group and I know others have gotten assistance finding local doctors thru FMDSA. I am not a doctor and I don't know everything about FMD, but I have heard more than once that even patients with FMD shouldn't be on that many BP meds.     Can you look into natural medications, maybe, and i don't want to be the one saying this, but do you think the medication is pulling you down, I'm sure there is a balance to what you have experienced, what they have diagnosed, and what the meds are doing, if you can't live your life on the meds that you are recieving, look into alternative medicine, could be a god send,I do wish you well, i'm not a doc, but side effects from some types of meds can outweigh how we would want to, or can live our lives normally. x
