Fibro and Teaching

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in Sept. of this year. I am also a teacher. I was placed on lyrica and ambien, but gained 10 pounds and started having chest pains. They took me off of it and placed me on neurontin. I am a teacher, have a stressful class this year, a new principal, and a lot of new stuff going on at school this year, new requirements, and I am head of my grade level. I am really suffering and don't know what to do.

Boy do I understand! I, too, am a teacher, second year, and 2 very stressful classes. I have no break between 11:30 & 3:00 & by 1 ish I'm exhausted. I'm coming out of my first really bad flare, thank goodness! I, too, am struggling. I love teaching and I'm not sure I can keep doing it full time. One thing I've done to help me physically is to learn to say no. I was going to sponsor 2 after school activities and decided not to. I am also training myself to stay balanced and not get involved in anything other than teaching. Enjoy your winter break and take lots of naps!

I'm with UC - glad you joined this group. I'd like to reccommend that you join a local support group for Fibro.
There are pain management clinics to look into as well.
I find yoga and meditation help. Magnesium is good for pain.
Hang in there and remember to take good care of your body - nutrition is so important and gentle exercise.
Bless you with healing.
