Episodic Gastroparesis

I have episodes of gastroparesis, which often seem to come from eating nuts. Besides not eating nuts, what can I do to prevent episodes? How do I best recover when I'm having an episode?
Also, I don't have diabetes.
Can gastroparesis be connected to diverticulitis? I've had two bouts of that as well.
