I suffered from GAD for most of my life. I always new there was something "off" about me. I was different than the others, in the way I think and act and felt. Finally, about 2 years ago, I actually did some research and I found that I could be suffering from GAD. I went to my doctor with my research and she thought I was right.
To sum things up, I had GAD. Depression was the worst symptom so she put me on a couple of different types of anti-depressants. Not all at once. They did work, but the side effects were so severe, I just hated to be with people.
When I meet my husband, he was an excellent supporter. I am now off of the medication, and learned how to manage my stress the old fashion way, healthy eating and exercises. Less coffee, more fruits and veggies. I can't say it was the easy road but it has been the one that works best for me.
I still have anxiety episodes, but very far and few between. I feel much better now, than I have ever did.
