I met a lady in the subway, when I was in college, who was trying to get home to her children. She couldn't afford the fare for the DC Metro. I had my pre-paid metro card in my wallet and one dollar in cash. Despite not being paid by my new job yet, and having an empty bank account, I couldn't help but feel badly and give the woman the last money to my name to help her out. She didn't thank me and then told the same sob story to the next person who came down the escalator. I guess it's the thought that I put in that counts, huh?! I hope she enjoyed her fix.
