Some Thoughts About Grades

As much as I love getting good grades and feeling smart and proud of myself, I have to admit that maybe I take grades too seriously. I feel like getting good grades for me is a need. I know this is probably unrealistic, but shouldn't someone do so well for the joy of learning and not, like me, to be "perfect"? Why spend so much time on subjects I hate when I am neglecting other areas of my life, holding back growth? When I ask myself honestly what is more important to me: getting good grades or being happy and having fun, I know I would rather have the grades and compromise the happiness. I know it's great to have motivation in school, but I've just been thinking that maybe it's not as important as I think...
