You have my empathy, Aristolochea! What you experienced makes my broken shoulder look like pre-K.
A week ago, I was making a presentation at a school district and fell off the platform on which I was standing. Fortunately the school nurse was in the front row and rushed up to tend to me. I didn't realize how much a broken bone could hurt until this happened.
i am so fortunate to have a group of friends who are real angels helping me through this. I really couldn't make it without them to help me bathe, wash clothes, get groceries, do all those things I took for granted before this stopped me cold. Believe me, when any of them has a crisis, I am there!
Tillygraywriter nailed it--be thankful for everything on your body that's working right because in one second things can change dramatically.

It sounds like a nightmarish experience, and it just goes to show us that we don't know how our lives can pivot on a second in time that can change everything. Every day is a gift and even for small things we can do and enjoy, let's be grateful right this minute. Today I was walking in a beautiful place called the "Wellness Park." here in Palm Springs. I am still using the cane, but I thought how fortunate I was to have driven myself there, to walk the paths by myself--who cares if with a cane--and the birds were singing and the air smelled sweet, the desert plants and trees were blossoming. There were lovely water features to enjoy and meditation gardens with benches. People passed by with their little dogs and smiled and greeted me. I'm very thankful for today. Live in the moment. My best to you, aristolchea. Welcome back!

Tilly gray, just read your comment about Wellness Park.Tell me more.I love that name. Why are you using a cane?Sorry this reply is so late.

Well I broke my wrist falling forwards and needed a plate and screws in it so it can certainly happen.

It's wierd that you broke your wrists bad enough for surgery just by falling backwards.
