My 3rd Bout of En

My first experience with EN was when i was about 20, i had awoken in the mornning at my parents' house with very sore and warm legs.  Getting out of bed, I noticed the big red bumps.  I was quite nervous about this, so I was taken to emergency where I was informed I had Erythema Nodosum.  I remember crying to my mom, saying "what if I have these big spots forever....no one will ever think I have beautiful legs again." Well, they all disappeared in a few weeks, leaving no scars.  A few years later while living in Portugal, I had another bout during the warm weather.  This episode was shorter.

Now, in my 42nd year, I think I notice a few spots- but dismiss them.  A few days later, it's apparent by the color, shape and warmth that EN has returned.  This time with a vengence, I'd say.   I'm nearing the end of the first week, and seem to have a fever every night (except one night- how odd).  Visited a walk-in clinic today, with another scheduled with my doctor on monday (in 3 days).

Although I can live with this condition, having faith it will subside again, it does make me wake sometimes in the middle of the night, worrying that there may be some underlying condition.  I do not like being so tired most of the time.

Well, this is just a note- nice to read of others' stories.

Good luck and god bless.

I get it every summer for the last 5 years. Coincidence or not I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer 1 month later. Now after a thyroidectomy and being on synthroid I still keep getting this yearly! I can't take it anymore.

funny thing is my 18 year old daughter has had 5 episodes of EN in 6 years and all in summer.
