I Have Had My Heart Broken
I remember that the first time I had my heart broken, I honestly thought I wouldn't ever get over it. It took me about a year to a year and a half to fully get over this person. I cried and ached, but I eventually decided to stop crying and aching. I was sick of being sad. I distinctly remember reading this quote: “The remarkable thing is, we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change the past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way, and we cannot change the inevitable.” (Charles R. Swindoll)
I also remember giving it all to God. It was the night that my heart was at it's weakest that a song called "There Will Be a Day" by Jeremy Camp came on, and I broke down in tears because I knew I would be alright. But just not at that time. And honestly, looking back, I am so much stronger now than I was then. My relationship with God grew so much in the trials I faced. I'm careful about giving away my heart - but I'm not going to let this one experience hold me back from love. I will find the right person for me one day, and SO WILL YOU. So stop crying, lift your head up, and look how beautiful the sky is. And remember, if this person broke your heart, do you really want them in your life anyways? You'll be alright, even though it doesn't feel like it. :)
