I Just Found Out Yesterday

I went in for my gastroscopy yesterday. It turns out I have a small, sliding hiatal hernia. It's not what I was expecting. I went in to try and find out why I've been having malabsorption problems. Biopsy results showed no infections or parasites and no coeliac disease. I'm female, 22, I'm thin and I always have been. I didn't think this happened to people like me.

Apparently I'm supposed to avoid fatty foods and spicy foods. This really annoys me because I love to cook and eat curries and I actually just bought a new curry cookbook a few weeks ago. I'm also supposed to avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. I'm already a non-smoker and not a big caffeine drinker but I guess this means giving up Friday beers.

I actually came here hoping to read someone else's story because this is very new to me and I'm not sure what it's going to be like. There weren't any stories but I hope at least my story can help someone else.
