Laughing It Off

I've had severe hyperhidrosis on my hands and feet for as long as I can remember. It started to get a lot worse in fifth grade, about the time when everyone noticed and started calling it my "superpower." The sign of peace at church was a weekly embarrassment, I had to grab tissues in order to grip my pens, wear a baseball glove to play tennis, and carry around a rag to wipe my hands. It's often something people notice and find fascinating. I try to act like I don't care when they laugh and act like it's something weird and interesting. It's not some quirky tidbit about myself that I enjoy. I've tried many formulas, but they didn't work well enough for the amount of effort that went into it (plastic wrap and gloves, anybody?). So I tried botox. I wasn't numbed, and let me tell you it was an excruciating experience. It worked for a couple weeks, but now I'm at the same place I was before. My hands dripped all throughout testing and I had to laugh at my own explanation of a clump of tissues on my desk just to keep from crying. I am so angry at this stupid condition and the fact that no one takes it seriously and everyone laughs and that the botox just didn't work. I just need someone to understand how much this truly sucks.

I've read somewhere that there's a device you can put your hands on while a mild electrical current is sent through it. Not sure how many times a day or how long you have to do it, but this seems to help some people with this problem. Everybody has *something* and we should be sensitive to that, though it's not always the case.

Oh wow! I was reading some other posts when I remembered what they called the device. I think they called it dryonic.

Make that Drionic (sp). I hope this helps. Good luck!
