I Have Hypoglycemia
I know that I am blessed; it could be so much worse. I could even have Type I Diabetes like my brother, so I know to be thankful for this minor (for me) inconvenience.
I only seem to have symptoms (headache, shaking, weepiness, queasiness, lethargy) when I have not taken care of myself properly so I just look at it as my body's way of kicking my butt for not watching out for my own health. Stress, skipping meals, lack of proper rest are my triggers. Usually a glass of orange juice followed by some protein such as peanut butter or cheese, and then a PROPER meal and some PROPER rest, and I am good to go.
I know some people struggle with this so much more than I do. When my youngest child was a toddler, she would wake up from naps shaking and crying almost uncontrollably until we finally figured out that she just needed a little pick-me-up right after her naps followed by some cheese (a word she learned very early! LOL!). She still struggles with the symptoms more than I do AND she can be very stubborn about taking care of herself (while at school, away, etc...) so that she can get herself feeling pretty bad. Hopefully, as she grows up, she will realize that it is such an easy issue for her to deal with if she just takes care of herself and eats when she should and how she should!
