Afraid Of My Nightmares

War isn't like the movies. When you're in it, it's personal. I see the things I've done and experienced in my nightmares. I'm afraid to sleep. I try not to think about what I've done, but it always haunts me in my sleep. It catches up to me after a few days of not sleeping and I exhaust myself enough where I nap for a few hours, but it's been a neverending cycle like this since Jan 05. So frustrating...

it gets better... i was never in war but i have had the experience of being afraid to go to sleep for my past coming to haunt me. I hear for most people it eventually goes away completely, I'm not one of them but most nights i sleep and half of them i don't dream of my past.
