Sendai, Japan

I lived in Sendai, Japan, for 2 years. I was on the JET Programme teaching English as a second language in a Japanese middle school. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and hope to go back soon. I would encourage anyone with an interest to apply for the JET Programme! It's such a fantastic opportunity!

Thanks for sharing a great story about Sendai.

Wow! I had heard the one about hammering down the nail that sticks up; but it is the Education Department MOTTO??? That is surely calculated to keep everyone in rigid conformance! Talk about conservative!

I was too old to qualify for JET, but went over anyway.
Stayed 6 years....had a great time.
I taught business men first then switched to children.....made a lot of money back when you could charge $100 hr.
