I Have Lost a Beloved Pet
I have lived long enough that I have lost many pets and it doesn't get any easier, each loss is heart breaking and time is the only cure. I just lost a very special dog his name was Bear and I have written two stories in this group about him.
This is not about him, it is about a poem that was given to me, a poem that I found helped me and I wanted to pass it along to those of you who have lost a beloved pet or family member. The poem was written in 1932 by Mary Frye and I think it is an amazing piece.
DO NOT WEEP
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle Autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there I did not die!
We are all made of billions of little specs of energy. The whole universe is nothing but little itty bitty specs of energy and all of this is connected together with, yeah more little specs of energy. Now energy cannot be created nor destroyed. You can alter the form or the shape but it is still energy. Death is merely a change in form, in shape, it is not an end, it is not a seperation.
The love you shared, all energy, energy generated from the heart and sent back and forth. This same energy knows no boundries, time nor space has any effect upon it. The love you shared can still be shared, will always be shared.
At times you will hear something, smell something or see something familiar, something that reminds you of them. It is not a trick of the mind, it is not your imagination it is them stopping in to check up on you, "They did not die"
God Bless you and hold you in your time of need
