Miss My Beagle

I had a beagle named Nanook. We got him from some old people, I dont know how though because i was pretty little then. He was about 6 years old when we got him, full of energy. When you'd say "get the rabbit!" He would start howling and looking around for said rabbit. He was a cute beagle, and to this day I have not seen a beagle as cute as he.

Nook got fat, and i mean ginormous. He got old, blind and arthritis. His ears still works tho! We have a lawn that is 50 yards long. I was getting the mail n he was on the porch, 50+ yards away, on a VERY windy day, with me down wind from him. I whistled softly and he immediately lifted his head. He was always so happy to see us, to get a scratch under his chin. He was so old that we didnt even know how old he was. We just kind of guessed how old he must be. When we got a hematoma in his ear the made it swell up to look like a football, the vet said he was 19 years old. He was getting worse tho, hurting a lot. The vet said he will have the pain untill he died, and It will most likely get worse till then. So we decided to put him down.

Nook was my first dog. The first dog my brothers n I shared. He lasted thru 6 cats and 5 other dogs. When i got him, I also had a kitten. They grew up together. One time, Nook was walking alongside the fence, and my kitty jumped on his back and they would scrap a bit but then he would lick the cat's head n the cat would rub against him. I miss that cat too, Mickey. I don't know what happened to him. He was a badass in the feline neighbourhood on this street.

The day we put him down, people who said they didnt like him (my dad and brothers, even tho i know they did) felt terrible. I cried. I got my dog Chopper and my cat, Kitten, and I know I'll be torn up when they die too.
