Other dog owners no the heartache and understand. There is no reason to be embarrassed. Its who you are. Our beloved dogs fill a big part of our hearts. Sorry for your loss.

I sorry for your loss I miss my baby girl she was 13 I cry I made a coffin for her and layed her to rest in my flowers bed she loved to hide in

Sorry for your loss , Welshbabe. Many of us do know what it feels like, because we are also animal lovers who've formed a bond with our beloved four legged friends. Unfortunately, their life span is so much shorter than ours so its inevitable that we'll feel that pain. Sixteen years of companionship is a long life for a dog. Knowing you for the kind hearted soul you are, I'm sure your puppy never wanted for anything, especially love and affection. I was face with the loss of two that both lived to 13. It was heartbreaking. Don't be afraid to mourn your loss. So many of us do know what it feels like to have a good friend pass over the Rainbow Bridge.

I lost my dog a few weeks ago too...people dont understand until they've lost an animal. Please accept my condolences.

Awwww! thank you so much pippitypop :D For your very kind, thoughtful words. I appreciate them. I understand your loss of both your father,. I too sadly lost mine 21 years ago and miss him terribly. And yes i certainly understand about Pippin. I feel for your loss. And i thank you so much for sharing with me.
Take care my darling friend. :D Peace love and light be yours. :D

Hi Welshbabe, I so understand, and I really feel for you. I've never been on one of these sites...but my best friend died two days ago and while my family and friends loved him too ... no-one really understands unless they have loved and lost a pet. Even then... like humans some pets are special. Beautiful souls that improve everything they come into contact with. That's what Pip did for me. My dad got very sick last year and we cared for him at home. My husband left me three weeks before Dad died, and we buried his ashes today. Pippin is the only reason it's been ok to come home, to go to bed, to wake up. I will miss every single thing about him every day. 13 years of unfailing love, loyalty and outrageous cuteness 24 hours a day. If dogs don't get to heaven, then I don't want to go either. Hope you're feeling better.

I'm sorry for your loss, Welshbabe. You were HIS true and faithful best friend, and he died knowing you loved him and cared enough to let him go. We should all be so lucky when our time comes.

I have been an avid animal person my whole life. Therefore, I have also lost animals along the way. Right now, I have 3 dogs and 4 cats. They are my family! I certainly know the pain of losing one of my family members! But listen--16 years! You must have been a great mom to your dog! Only time will heal your sorrow, but please comfort yourself with the knowledge that your beloved dog always had someone who loved him and cared about him, fed him, played with him, etc. You loved him and made him very happy and he KNEW that! Google the Rainbow Bridge. My sister sent that to me when I lost one of my dogs several years ago. It made me cry, but it did make me feel better!
Please know that there are animal lovers out there who know how you feel and we all want you to feel better. The world needs more people like you, who are kind and loving to animals. Take care.

Thanks for your response cycmcb to welshbabe. I lost my best friend two days ago and I feel heartbroken. But I do need to remember that he knew... he absolutely knew that I adored him. He had a great life of long walks and feather cushions and was the happiest wee pup around. So... then it's just me that I'm sorry for I guess. Probably. But a warm, loving light has gone out in what is a pretty dark time in my life already, and I miss him so very much.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your family member. My heart goes out to you. We are here for you if only online and in your heart...hugs and love!

Welshbabe..I'm so very sorry for your loss!
I know that we can come to love our animals just as much as we love any other member of our family as they are part of our family.
I understand how you feel as I've lost a few myself over the years and now prefer to have none.
Although I know that he'll always be in your heart..I hope the pain will lessen with time for you.
Take care and hugs!

Dear Welsh, I am so sorry for your loss.. My dog died in my arms a little over a year ago--I still can't quite get over it. For about 12 or so years, he was my constant companion. He went everywhere with me and slept right next to my bed. I certainly do understand how you feel. You are young so, after a while, you may want to have another dog. I long for one--but at my age it wouldn't be fair....I have a cat now....If I were to pass on--I don't think the cat would grieve the way a dog does...

Gryfnn, so sad to lose such a big part of your life. I feel for you x

Awwww! I am so sorry Welshbabe! That is so sad. :-( I understand completely. Pets can be just like family when you are close to them. I lost a fish when I was about 8 years old. I had her for 4 years. I loved her so much! I hope you feel better and I am so sorry! :-(
