Diagnosed In December 2001

I rec'd my diagnosis in December of 2001 thanks to being in the location at the right time (was leaving near a major neurology center).  My first occurrence was Optic Neuritis in my right eye.  I have been somewhat lucky not to have any major relapses, until now.

I have been suffering with numbness and tingling from the waist down for almost a month.  Now I have to have the dreaded MRI.  I am not one of the lucky ones that can sleep through a MRI.  I have to be medicated and even that does not help.  So, now I am scared to death again.

If anyone has any secrets to surviving a MRI, I would greatly appreciate them.

Is it because you're claustrophobic? You are allowed I believe to bring your own relaxing music to listen to if you think that might help? Maybe some calming herbal remedy beforehand? I'm sorry I don't have a problem with MRI's or claustrophobia so I am not sure if any of these ideas would be helpful. I do know of a homeopathic stuff for panics called rescue remedy which I took for post traumatic stress and it worked like a miracle. It may help you with this.... Hope you will find a solution. Sorry you have this problem.
