I am a 47 year old male. I was dx with MS in 2013.
I am and was the bread winner of my family of 4. In the last 2 years my MS has gotten worse my gait is terrible and my cognitive skills have worsened. I worked in the medical field for 14 years. My co-workers, clients and doctor think I need to get on disability. My wife thinks I am being lazy and resents me for having this disease. I have lost 4 jobs in the last 2 years. Jumping from job to job trying to hide my MS. I can no longer do that. My wife is no longer showing me affection. I don't know what else to do. My wife says she understands the disease and claims I have given up. I can tell she knows nothing about the disease.

Please help. I would part with her but I have a 14 year old daughter that I love dearly and don't want to leave her without a father. I cannot get my wife to go to a support group with me. We fight constantly. She has the opportunity to make 3 times as much to help support the family, but says she shouldn't have to work at all. She says she didn't plan her life to be like this (I some how planned this disease) .

Any advise or support would be much appreciated!

Holy crap man I've had the same problem for years. word for word. I feel your pain. my wife saw me fall in front of my 8 year old and she's finally seeing I'm really hurting. it's not much better but it's something. The disease hurts my wife as well and we try to cope. I hope it gets better for you. I lost my job as a police officer now I'm working in radiology. I love my job but it's getting really hard. best of luck to you.

I have secondary progressive MS. What type have you been dx with?

This disease is especially hard when your wife doesn't understand it. I don't wish this nasty disease on anyone, but I would much rather be the care giver then the taker.

I was dx with RRMS but my new symptoms with my legs aren't going away.
