Feeling Guilty

A personal story in the experience: I Have Multiple Sclerosis
I 've had MS for years, but only began treatment for it a while ago.  As you all know, the medicine is expensive.  My husband's a really nice guy and his insurance will cover part of it, but the sad part is we're only staying together to make sure I'll get treatment.  I came out to him years ago, and he's nice enough to stay with me despite that.  What a guy!

But I feel guilty.  I don't want him to have to live this way.  He should be finding happiness with a new wife, not being stuck with me.

Who knew the worst part of being sick would be the guilt?

This is such a sad situation but at the same time renews my faith in human kindness. Being ill tends to bring with it automatic guilt as we feel bad about the impact on everyone around us. This guy is amazing but he's probably only doing what you would do for him. I know he can't marry again whilst you are legally married to each other but that doesn't mean he can't have relationships (or will this jeopardise your treatment). You were lucky to meet such a generous person who obviously still loves you and cares for you. The only thing you can do is love him back (in a platonic way of course) and let him know he is your hero.

As a nurse aide I had several patients I served with MS and it is such a horrible disease especially when it strikes the younger with no warning. You are in my prayers. FYI- I know many people are not into alternative medicine but I am a believer. Traditional (western) medicine is great but may not have all the answers. I saw a special on one of those news magazine shows like (dateline, nightline, 60 minutes, etc...) years ago about the "bee lady" who had MS and was treating her MS with bee's. She was actually harvesting bees and stinging herself and then she opened up her home to others who were MS suffers to get the same treatments with impressive results. She isn't hard to find online. She even wrote a book and others were also featured who spoke of the healing properties of bee venom. I believe it works very similiar to the steriods they give MS patients just more natural without all the harmful side-effects. I just share this because the segment was so powerful, I never forgot it. Good luck!

I know the feeling too well. But, I know its also their decision.
