Disclosure: I Have Hep B.

My dad has chronic hepatitis b, which he got from his parents, who got it from theirs, and so on and so forth. My mom got it from dad, and then it was passed down to us children.

Chronic hepatitis b hasn't affected my life or my family's life much. As long as we keep healthy, we are fine. But there is always the risk of passing it on to someone else. This is one reason why I've stayed away from kissing (and sex) and why I always seem to keep people at a distance. I've read that there is minimal risk when it comes to kissing due to low concentrations of the hep b virus in saliva, but it's a risk I'm not willing to take. (But also, what if I had cracked lips and was bleeding a little?)

I had always thought about that awkward conversation if someone ever tried to kiss me, how it might go down. "Sorry, I'd love to kiss you, but I have hepatitis." And then the guy runs away scared. HAHAHA.

I am lucky enough to have a boyfriend (long distance though) and when I told him about my hep b, he didn't run away! So maybe one day I will get to kiss him (he'll get vaccinated).

I would love to, but he's alllllllllll the way on the other side of the planet! Sometimes I think "I'm getting too old, I'll be a kiss-virgin for life!" >__
