My high school was affiliated with the Church of Christ, which frowns on dancing. So we never had any prom, homecoming dance, or anything like that. We did have dancing in our plays and musicals, but they called it "choreography" instead of dancing. And it was usually more like individual dancing instead of partner stuff. I sometimes dance and tap my foot to the beat to a song I like, but that's about as far as it goes...I wonder if I ever did dance, if I'd be good at it...

Why does the Church of Christ frown on dancing?

It's kind of stupid really...the Church of Christ has this logic: If the Bible doesn't come right out and say DO THIS, they think that means you SHOULDN'T do it. For example, the New Testament never mentions the early church using instruments during worship. Therefore, they interpret it as, "The Bible doesn't say 'thou shalt worship with instruments,' so that must mean it's a sin to worship with instruments." It's ridiculous I know.
Part of it too is that they think that dancing can get too sexual, especially when it's dancing with a partner.
I honestly don't understand it completely. I agree with many of the Church of Christ's beliefs, but some of them are just irrational and silly. -
But the thing is that dancing itself isn't inherently sexual. It only is if you make it that way.

Well, they could just play swing music and stuff like that...instead of "*****" music. You can't really dance sexually to swing music...

What about like really slow romantic music...you can't really grind to a song you're supposed to slow-dance to.
