I Have Never Celebrated Father's Day
They say that the tough year in the mourning process is the second as the first year a person is still in shock. I've welcomed and adjusted to a new life, but I worry about my son. I asked him during the week if he would like to do anything special for Father's Day, his response being, "no, I'm working." I asked if he was okay and his response, "yeah, it doesn't bother me, it's always some dumb little thing that grabs and gets me."
I awoke early to make him breakfast before he went to work. As I handed him his ham and eggs, "I hope I raised a good father in you. The best Dad I ever had was my Mom." He smiled sweetly nodding his head in understanding. He knew her too.
Happy Father's Day, Mom. I miss you.
