Not Another Funeral

Been around drugs of some kind my whole life and watched people fall apart because of it, pills, weed, coke, crack. Been to many drug related funerals for my tastes... family friends and acquaintances. Watched my brother go from what he deemed harmless to having a heart attack and dying from cocaine. Watched my mother pop pills until she also had a heart attack. My father was killed by his girlfriend after a drug binge. My uncle over dosed on prescription pills. Its a sad sad thing... I have never had any interest in picking it up even though my ex tried to get me to start, thinking it would be something we could have in common. I told him to take it and go. Have to respect my decision to say no. I barely drink so I just have no interests in the drugs either. I am hoping my children follow my example

I think one of the reasons why I stayed away from drugs was that during Elementary school, they actually put the fear in us of what would happen if we were on drugs. It was called the D.A.R.E program and I am not sure if that is still around. But I was totally convinced that staying away from drugs was the right thing to do.
When I was a little kid, I used to see all these dead cigarettes laying in the grass. Unfortunately, I used to pick them up and pretend I was smoking. I even saw it as an attractive thing to do. Had I not had the fear put in me, who knows what would have happened. I would like to say that I could trust myself to not to get involved.
I'd pass a heart attack, failed liver, cancer, and poor health any day. If you take care of your body, it will take care of you
