I Am Getting There

I have at least 2,000, maybe 3,000 books total. Some are out on my shelves, and some are still boxed up. And there are even a few (not included in the count), that are in storage or in my garage.

When I moved into my house, the first thing we had to buy was bookcases, because we just didn't have enough. Our old apartment had one really big built in bookcase, and I used it, and then had a few others, but there wasn't any room to put all of them out.

When we moved into a house, I suddenly had plenty of space for my books, and we even had an extra room that we've made into our library.

But, I've bought more books since we moved in, and I'm running out of shelf space. I've bought one more bookcase for my to-be-read books (I have one already filled with them, and needed another one), and I honestly think I could buy a couple more, and would fill them up, too.

I love books, and I often have a hard time getting rid of them, and I really hate to get rid of my favorite ones, so, for now, I keep buying bookshelves and stacking the books upright, with more books on their sides in front of the other books. It's a stop-gap measure, but it works for me.

So you must keep them? I am a book swap fanatic, I visit a local book swap weekly and turn in my read copies for credit towards books that I tell myself I will read, but my list seems to always grow, no matter how much I read

I trade books like crazy, and give away to servicemen, prisoners, schools, friends, family. Still, there are more books than I will ever read.
