I Have No Problem With Interacial Relationships
In the world we live in, racism is dying out. I remember growing up, the fairly infrequent, but still jarring, soft racist comments that my father would make. It always puzzled me how he could even think this way. One time I remember him telling me that he was concerned that too many black men were marrying white women. He said he was concerned that then the black women wouldn't have anyone to marry. I think I was around 10 years old. I just remember thinking " Couldn't the black women just marry white men? Or asian men? Or hispanic men?" I mean seriously, why would he even think that way?
Then when I was 14, my first real boyfriend was black boy. He was such a cool person, and I really liked him. It didn't really even occur to me that my family might think our relationship odd. Not until my grandmother said to me with great concern "Fish and birds don't mate". WTF???!!! Yeah..... I'm pretty sure we're the same species grandma.
It is sooo long past time that we stop this nonsense, and just love and respect all people regardless of any physical traits that they might have. People can all love and have relationships with whomever they choose. And honestly, I didn't join this group because I feel like people need my approval for interracial relationships. I just wanted to be one more person that says it is time for peace and love and acceptance for everyone, no matter what. Let a person be judged by his actions, not by his color.
