I Have Oas

Growing up carrots and apples used to make my lips feel funny and my throat scratchy. Eventually I started getting fat lips whenever I ate those two foods, but it wasn't until I was about 15 before other fruits and veggies started giving me trouble. I'm 22 now and I can't most fruits and veggies anymore. I can't even do them cooked like a lot of people can. I have to carry an epi-pen and benedryl everywhere I go because my reactions to some foods are so severe my throat starts to close up and I can't breathe. People keep suggesting that maybe it will get better, but it's only getting worse. Recently, lettuce was added to my list of can't eat foods, and I'm concerned about beans and a few other things I can still eat being added, because they can cross react with some of the foods I already can't eat.

I'm also lactose intolerant. Luckily, I can take a lactose enzyme to allow me to eat dairy, but the amount I can eat is still limited. It's frustrating, by mid-afternoon I feel like I've already eaten all the healthy food I can eat for a day. It's not a common allergy and it makes it hard to eat out. Be careful at places that put raw food on your plate! Also, some vitamins contain beta-carotene...which is in carrots and has been known to cause a reaction in people who are allergic to carrots! It never ends.

Any one know of any yummy, healthy snacks we can eat!?
