I Have Or I Have Not !

"I Have Otosclerosis"

Well have l or haven't l, thats the question ? .

sometimes you can go to a G.P and get a blunt answer and have to accept it, why ?, because the doctor knows best, but 2Min's in his office and a quick diagnostics and lm out again. Gets me thinking hum.

what sort of symptoms do  Otosclerosis suffers have.

well myself .

l can hear, but cant make out conversation, its seems to be getting worse as l get older, sometimes I'm OK then other days I'm not. l don't have the problem in loud working areas it seems the quieter the room the harder it is to hear someone speaking normally. what should l do.

I was diagnosed with Cochlear Otosclerosis about 4 years ago and I suffer from the same symptoms as you. Unfortunately my case is not correctable by surgery because it is in my coclear but I have recently started wearing a hearing aid and it has been helping tremendously. It took me a long time to get to the point of wearing one because I am only 29 years old and did not want to except the fact that I am hard of hearing, but it was the best decision I have ever made. I feel like I was missing out on so much. I felt like people thought I was dumb. If I were you I would go for a second opinion and check out your options, your case may be simply corrected with surgery.

I messed around with GP's and local audiologists too long. I finally went over to U of WA where they could diagnose me immediately and make a plan. I have posted my story if you are interested.
