Dear Akay, as a fellow sufferer of ovarian cysts I can relate. I had a bad rupture about 2 weeks ago as well which involved bleeding and passing out. I called my NP but she explained that I didn't need to come in and that "we'll just watch it." I'm nervous about the possibility of another horrible rupture-I've never felt worse pain in my life. As a Registered Dietitian, I eat really well most of the time-except for when I get cysts then my PMS acts up even worse than usual and I crave sugars. I'm currently trying to keep a healthy diet that includes a variety of foods but especially heavy on the vegetables, tasty spices, and omega-3 fats (I take a high quality fish oil) to give me a variety of foods that can soothe inflammation. I'm big on smoothies right now filled with berries, spinach, almond milk (unsweetened-let the berries do the sweetening!) and whatever else sounds good to give me a heavily nutritious snack. I feel like I'm doing everything right, although I could be exercising more, but I'm still having problems with the cysts and I don't want to take birth control. My skin has also gotten worse with some really annoying acne which is totally hormone-related. I feel your pain. I'm just going to keep going and I appreciate everyone elses comments. It's nice to finally be able to relate to people about this issue.

Dear Akay please can you describe what your feelings were at the time of your ruptured cyst and how often it happens to you? What tests did you have to diagnose you? I was taken to hospital on Friday with a stabbing pain and it felt like something burst in my deep right hand side. I don't have an appendix. I have tests in hospital tomorrow to confirm ovarian cysts but I'm looking to start a family and I do t know if it should be sooner rather than later. I'm nearly 26 and have had these pains in and off for 9 years but the pain on Friday landed me in an ambulance. I'm really worried.

Have you thought about having some of your eggs saved, just in case?

No.. but I guess I should keep that in mind. It took a long time of not using birth control to conceive my son and we thought it had to do with my boyfriends cancer. A year after his surgeries we got pregnant. But now I am thinking there was also my cyst stuff possibly messing with it as well.

Thank you. I am so worried that it will affect my fertility. I have recently been looking up healthy eating habits and foods that irritate cysts. I am now so depressed thinkinh about cutting certian things but the pain is so bad some days.

I would also like to add that when my cyst ruptured I had such bad internal bleeding I was passing out at home and lost a lot of blood. My doctor said it was the worst rupture she has ever seen/heard of. Now I am terrified of another rupturing even though she has told me that isn't what most people go through with ruptures. Has anyone had a rupture that bad? I ha dto get my blood levels checked every few days to make sure I was making blood back...

Hi- yes- mine was that bad after it twisted- I was bleeding internally for 3 days. Just try to be aware of your body and don't ever feel afraid to call your doctor, just in case. In my case, I ended up having both ovaries removed at age 17. (Honestly didn't know if I should share that- but it was years ago, and they have a lot better ways to keep an eye on these then they used to- like ultrasounds.) Just take care of yourself.

Wow so sorry xx I am so afraid I will have it happen at work. I waitress and a big fear of mine is passing out with a huge tray of things. And it was so painful. I have had to get my appendix removed and this was much worse. I have been to the er twice with fear of another ruptured cyst and they sent me home after 5 hours saying to rest and not doing anything for me. I try not to go to the er about it now and just wait to see my doctor. It is the worst on the weekends when I work. Could I be working too hard?

Do you think it's affected by your being on your feet all day? and have you asked your doctor for signs and symptoms to watch out for? I know when mine was ruptured, when the doc pushed on my stomach and then let go quickly, I almost hit the roof in pain. I use that now to decide how bad stomach pains are- your doctor might have suggestions- don't take medical advice from me!

I will ask. When mine ruptured I was also checking by doing that, so that is kind of funny you mentioned it. It could be being on my feet. I just worked 8.5 hours barely sitting and my lower back is killing me.
