I Have Panic Attacks
I have PTSD, and I've been subject to panic attacks for the last almost 5 years. Yesterday I had one, but as far as panic attacks go, it wasn't so bad, and I actually didn't feel bad afterward.
I had to ride the bus somewhere (I usually do), and all the sudden a ton of kids got on the bus, which was already mostly full. Now, I don't mind large crowds in OPEN space, but cram 60 people together on a bus, me at the far back corner, it's a recipie for a panic attack, which I had. I felt the familiar "I can't breath, it's too crowded, heart racing, palms sweating, ect... So, I closed my eyes, turned up my Ipod, and just concentrated on keeping my breathing even, so I wouldn't freak out in the midst of all those people. When I did open my eyes,(to see where we were), no one even noticed I was having a medium force panic attack, which made me feel better.
After I got off the bus, the symptoms went away, and I smiled and said out loud "**** you PTSD, I won this round, so **** you!"
