The Doc Was Wrong

At the age of 19 or so, i kept going to the local clinic due to missed periods. the doc kept running all kinds of tests, but mostly she just told me that it was a common thing for someone my weight.(the nice way of telling me i was just fat) But eventually I had a TSH test come back abnormal, so she immediately sent me off to an endo. he reran the  thyroid tests and told me that mine was fine, but, on the other hand, I have PCOS.  he started me on metformin after having ultrasound's done. i was officially diagnosed in december of '06, after having spent two years before that being told that i was just fat ( by a gyno). i am not currently ttc, but my partner and i do plan on having a family someday.

Gawd your story is JUST LIKE MINE- doctors told me I was just fat, that I was obviously overeating, etc.<br />
<br />
I started starving myself and kept ballooning, finally a doctor looked at me and was like "ever heard of PCOS?"<br />
<br />
I said no, and she said she thought I had it- finally everything made sense, I'm working hard to get to the point where I can have my own children, hubby and I are talking about trying next year, but if it doesn't happen I want to adopt :)
