I remember sucking on sticks of chalk when I was a kid. I never actually ate it though. I do still have pica and eat toilet paper.

I have had cravings for drywall since I was about 7 or 8 years old - I'm now 30 (and I'd eaten little flakes of it chipped off frequently as my dad was in construction and I had constant access to it...). (i also craved things like baking soda, chalk, dishwasher soap, bars of soap, fresh grout between tiles, cream of tartar....there are more things I'm sure but I just can't remember) In my adult life the cravings gradually went away but came back FULL FORCE when I was pregnant with all three pregnancies and I had to undergo many tests to find out that I was indeed anemic and also had a very very high vitamin b12 deficiency. I'm pregnant with my third and now I'm still craving the non-food items to some degree but mostly just ice...even with the treatment in place to deal with the anemia. I wish you all luck and hope it doesn't become too much of an obsession like I know it can be!

. I think rocks and dirt are safer than chalk because chalk is so pasty and doesnt sink like dirt. I eat talc sometimes and a dab'll do ya usually. I put a little on my finger and lick it off. I eat less of talc powder than I do straight chalk

I think rock and dirt are probably safer too. I think edible clay is the best. I love to eat chalk and have been eating it for years. And yes, when eating it you need to drink plenty of water, if not you do get pains in intestines. I have eaten wall (drywall - if the same thing), cornstarch, baby powder and collected chalk rocks from Eastborne in the UK cliffs along the walking paths. I've ordered some edible clay - can't wait to taste it. I love the gritty texture and earthy taste of wall and chalk and hopefully clay too, especially if its soft and melts in the mouth. Chalks now don't have that earthy taste, that's why I want to try the clay.
