I Have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
I too was diagnosed with PCOS in 2010. It was nice to finally know why my body was acting the way it did all those years.
To be honest, PCOS is a bit of a blessing. Because I enjoy not getting my periods for long periods of time. Now that I am not taking the pill anymore, I haven't got my period in almost 3 months and I took a pregnancy just last week - it was a negative, just like the other several tests I have taken over the course of the last few months. I guess all I can do right now is enjoy the calm before the storm. Before I took the pill, I often skipped my period for like 3 months at a time. I've googled this condition online and I've found women that say they at times didn't get their period for 3 years because of PCOS! I was so shocked to read that. Wow!
On other hand, of course, PCOS is ruining some things for me. Because I know that when I will finally get my period, it will a bloody and extremely painful mess and it will last for ages. And the thing about having such an irregular period is that you NEVER know when it's going to hit you next and most often than not, it's when you really wish you weren't on your period! It's like Murphy's law or something.
Add to that that it's really causing me a lot of trouble with my body hair. I try to hide that as well as I can, but sometimes it's difficult when my body hair grows so quickly and in such large volumes. Trying to shave it is literally of no use.
And of course, my disproportionately pear-shaped body. Small boobs and skinny on the upper side of my body, nice waist, but... HUGE ***/THIGHS! And I think it literally takes days for me to gain weight on my belly. Ugh!
Anyway I really need to get on the pill soon, because it helped me SO MUCH. I miss it beyond words. I don't understand why my doctor thinks it's best that after I start taking the pill and get used to it, I take a break?! Especially if after she ran a battery of tests on me (to see my hormone levels), they all came back perfectly okay and she was very pleased to see them. I think I need a new doctor!
But when am I getting my period again?!
