Following In Dads' Footsteps

Not until a couple of years ago did I find that my Dad died 26 years ago from polycythemia vera. Now I have the condition. Six years ago my blood numbers were not quite right and then the next year the numbers were a little worse. The Dr. Thought it was probably an infection and nothing to worry about. Then 3 years ago I had a small heart attack after which I visited my dr. Who, after seeing my blood tests suggested I might have pv. Went to cardiologist who thought it Wes just stress but did send me t a hematologist who did a sonograph which did not give any answers. Sent me to regional hospital got nuclear test which confirmed pv. Have had phlebotomies for the last 2 1/2 years, first monthly and then bi-monthly which went to every 3 months and now 6 months. I have not taken any medications. I feel good and with a little itching and a minimum of the other symptoms ( found 22 on Internet)) I am doing very well.
