Polycythaemia Jak2 Negative

I was diagnosed about 5 years ago with PV after a routine blood test. I had a bone marrow biopsy (ouch). They said I had very strong bones which I suppose is one good point, but it took them 5 goes to get the needle in. It showed that I was Jak2 Negative which apparently makes mine much rarer than most.
After initial venesections, all I take is Aspirin and hardly eat red meat, which has made me Iron Deficient, which is apparently a good thing. Because of this, I crave ice and am now on my 5th ice machine. Does anyone else crave ice?
I have other health issues and I am worried because I am now 55 years of age and I just lost both of my parents, have no partner, no siblings and no children.
I just want to know if anyone else is in a similar situation and as you get older and the PV gets worse or turns into Acute Myloid Leukaemia, will I be able to cope on my own?

Where do you live? USA ? If so, what state? I empathize with your situation, perhaps I can give you support? Connie Moody, Detroit area
