Ptsd And Anxiety Are Taking Over!

In the last 3 months...fear and paranoia has consumed me. I went from a fun and outgoing person to a sheltered, paranoid spaz. My family and doctor says that I'm experiencing effects from the military. I beg to differ. My life was never threatened while enlisted. However, I've worked as a property preservationist for roughly 4 years. This job is high risk. I've seen things in some of these homes that I can't unsee. I've braced for death multiple times working this job. I never had an issue until recently. I decided to quit my job in hopes that I'd go back to normal. I haven't. Im absolutely terrified all day. Im terrified that i'm going to just collapse dead. I can't shake it. I am getting to the point to where I'm afraid to be alone. My doctor prescribed me medication but I want to beat this without pills. But I need advice on how I can possibly overcome this...

EMDR has been known to work rapidly for some.

You might try writing about the stuff that terrifies you. Writing uses different brain areas to process the material, for some people that works in getting over it.

20 minutes of daily breathing meditation is good for panic attacks and agoraphobia.

Have you gone to the VA yet? You really need to get a diagnosis from them and start some form of treatment. I have a member in my group that experienced something similar and never saw actual combat. He had worse PTSD than some of the "trigger pullers"! We get exposed to some stuff that our society cannot stomach/deal with and don't understand.

Check out pointman on the internet. They have groups all over the US and are good at this.
