t was a quiet weekend for the most part on this end. I brief rant, if I may. I was visiting my family and an old episode of "Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" was on. Shows like this really just drive me nuts. I am sitting there with my family and a question comes up and someone says.... "Oh! I think I know this one."Well here's the deal... YOU SHOULD! Everyone in the room was over the age of 25. This is not something you should get excited about knowing. This is something you should just know. I long to return to the days of shows like Jeopardy, Scrabble, $25,000 Pyramid.... shows that made you think, really think.
And here we are at this week's random thoughts...
1. Why is Trader Joe's always such a free-for-all? What is it about the TJs experience that makes people go primal and all sense of normal grocery store, public shopping decorum is lost? Its like something straight out of Animal Planet.
2. Sure drinking and driving don't mix, but neither do drinking and dressing!
3. Is it rude to ask, "When is a good time for me to make my obligatory Happy Birthday phone call to you?"
4. "LOL" has gone from meaning "Laugh Out Loud" to "I have nothing left to say... at all!"
5. I really do think that freezers deserve lights too.
6. Where do you go to watch music videos now?
7. When did "I am deleting you from all my gadgets!" become the ultimate way to stick it to someone?
8. Giving away raisins at Halloween pretty much makes it OK for anyone to pull any number of pranks on you. Why? Because you asked for it.
9. People have babies all the time. Get over it!
10. I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I'll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone's laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I'm still the only one who really, really gets it.
OK, chew on that for this week. ;)

I am actually surprised that not many participants on the *fifth grader* programme are bright. Maybe that is the *criteria* to win ratings. If they had enrolled all the very smart ones, they not only be broke, they will not have many watching it because they cant take the mickey out of the contestants ;0) @Music Videos--I dont watch them but last weekend I had a karaoke party at home and a friend brought the CDs and I was fascinated to watch the videos. I saw a very young Andy Williams on the song *LOLLIPOP* and I caught my husband staring with mouth ajar at a video of *Please release me let me go* LOL. Too funny.  Feeling infuriated | Posted Oct 20th, 2009 at 8:54AM Those games are soooooo much better than reality shows, any time in the century. I hate meeting youngsters who seem to know nothing, nothing at all but perk up the moment you ask them about celebrities. And I blame the TV for that. I was a nerd growing up because I grew up with games and quizzes on TV and I loved being a nerd :) #3: Yes! But I laughed when someone actually asked me that. Too too clueless. #6: YouTube of course. "LOL" has gone from meaning "Laugh Out Loud" to "I have nothing left to say... at all!" I don't watch music video. Number 7 really shows how much we have evolved in communication technology. I can relate to the stress at number 10 very well. I'm lucky the dog saved me at times when I just can't follow the story anymore. +2 nods |
